A Delft Blue tile points back to a Dutch earthenware tradition stretching to the 17th century. At its peak (1640-1740), the city of Delft housed dozens of ceramic factories (around 33 at the height) producing tin-glazed earthenware with cobalt-oxide pigments: grey in the pot, vivid cobalt blue once fired at 1080°C.

I am very happy with how this beautifully crafted personalized tile came out. The picture I provided was from a wonderful, fond memory in the Adirondacks with the lady and I before we got married.
