Rectangular Photo Tile

Almost everything we make in ceramic is square. This is not. The Rectangular Photo Tile measures 19.8 by 14.8 centimetres and comes in landscape by default — wide, like most photos with more than one person in them. Prefer it in portrait? That works too.

What makes this format special?

A wide surface is made for what belongs side by side. Two people shoulder to shoulder do not have to be cropped in tight, a couple or a pair of siblings fit on together, and a holiday photo keeps its horizon instead of being squeezed into a square. Next to the classic 15 × 15 this tile reads as a small framed portrait rather than a decoration — the same ceramic, a very different gesture. One person, a full-length shot or a facade? Switch the tile to portrait, at 14.8 × 19.8 cm.

Which style will it be?

You upload one photo and then choose how it gets painted. On this format we offer five styles, all five picked because they live on a face and a figure: Street Art Portrait for nerve and colour, Watercolour Painting for softness, Charcoal Drawing for timeless black and white, Van Gogh Style for movement in every stroke, and Abstract Line Art for pure form. The wide surface gives all of them something a square does not: room beside the faces, so nobody gets cut off at the edge.

Who is it for?

For the photo you are in together: the two of you as a couple, the kids side by side on the sofa, grandma and grandpa, you and the dog taking up the whole sofa. For an anniversary or a wedding day. And for one person — a new-baby gift with the newborn at full length, or your own front door — switch the tile to portrait.

How do I display it?

Hang it with the hanging eye: a self-adhesive disc with a small brass eye that you stick on the back yourself. Prefer it standing on a shelf, mantel or desk? Choose the wooden tile stand or the black tile stand — a stand only works with the tile in landscape. In portrait, hang it with the hanging eye or lean it against the wall without a stand. Note that every stand covers a narrow strip of the bottom edge, so keep that in mind if something important sits down there.
