Do I see the painting before I pay?

Yes. You upload a photo and within about a minute the painting is on your screen, label included. You only order once you are happy.

Can the name be misspelled?

No. The painting itself contains no text. We set the name, the year and the label lines in real type, exactly as you type them.

Which photo works best?

A sharp photo in daylight, with your pet's head clearly in view and its eyes open. A photo at eye level gives the finest portrait. People in the photo are not painted.

Can two pets share one portrait?

Yes. If they are together in the photo, we paint them side by side, each in its own ruff. Put both names on the label, for example "Max & Poes".

Can I make it a memorial portrait?

Yes. Choose "In memoriam": the label then carries the year of birth and the year of passing and, under the painting, one line of your own. The year of birth may stay empty.

Is it a pet head pasted onto a stranger's body?

No. We paint your pet itself as a bust portrait: its own head, coat and markings, with a white millstone ruff and black silk around it, as an Amsterdam merchant wore them. No crown, no wig, no pasted head.

What is the quality of the animal prints?

We print all our products on high-quality materials with sharp colours and fine details. Canvas prints are printed on sturdy canvas, aluminium prints produce a sleek and vibrant result, and posters are printed on thick photo paper.

In which art styles are the pet products available?

Our pet products are available in various styles, such as a classic oil painting, a colourful watercolour, a modern pop-art illustration, and a vintage drawing. On the product page, you can see all available styles.

Is a product from the pet collection suitable as a gift?

Certainly. Our pet products are popular gifts for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. You can also have the product sent gift-wrapped, so it's ready to give right away.

How do I hang the canvas?

The canvas comes on a sturdy 2 cm-thick wooden frame and is ready to hang straight away. A hanging system is fitted on the back, so all you need is a screw or nail.

Can I have my own pet depicted on a product?

Yes, that's possible! At MakeMeFamous, you can upload a photo of your own pet and have it turned into a beautiful artwork. Choose the style, product, and format that best suits you.

What animals can I use for my product?

You can use almost any animal. Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, and more. As long as you provide a clear photo, we'll ensure a beautiful result.

How do I hang my wall decoration?

The wall decoration comes standard with an adhesive mounting system on the back, so you can attach the product to the wall easily and securely. Want your decoration to appear to float off the wall? You can order separate spacers.

How long does production take?

We usually make your order within 1-2 business days. Including delivery, it usually reaches you within 2-4 business days in the Netherlands and Belgium, and within 3-6 business days in the rest of Europe. You see the expected delivery date on the product page and at checkout.

How do I upload my photo or design?

After selecting a product, the website asks you to upload a photo. You immediately see a preview of how the product will look. You can also go to the 'Create your portrait' page first, choose from all our styles there and upload your photo to create an AI portrait, you then order that portrait on the product of your choice.

About this product

Your dog or cat as a Golden Age portrait: warm window light, a dark background, a white millstone ruff and black silk. You see the painting within a minute, before you pay.

Why this portrait is different

- You see it first. The painting is on your screen within a minute. No proof after three days, no surprise after paying.

- It stays your animal. The same markings, the same eye colour, the same crooked ear tip. Not a generic breed portrait.

- The label is always right. We set the name in real type, so it reads exactly as you typed it.

The name and the year are set in old gold in a corner of the painting, the way the masters inscribed their portraits. Or choose a museum label below it.

In memory

Choose "In memoriam" and the label carries the years and one line of your own. Also as a memorial glass: the same name and years engraved on a tea glass, with your pet as a line drawing.

Material

Real canvas on a wooden stretcher frame, the painting wraps around the sides. Ready to hang. Made in the Netherlands, shipped within 1 to 3 working days.
