Do I see the painting before I pay?

Yes. You upload a photo and within about a minute the painting is on your screen, label included. You only order once you are happy.

Can the name be misspelled?

No. The painting itself contains no text. We set the name, the year and the label lines in real type, exactly as you type them.

Which photo works best?

A sharp photo in daylight, with your pet's head clearly in view and its eyes open. A photo at eye level gives the finest portrait. People in the photo are not painted.

Can two pets share one portrait?

Yes. If they are together in the photo, we paint them side by side, each in its own ruff. Put both names on the label, for example "Max & Poes".

Can I make it a memorial portrait?

Yes. Choose "In memoriam": the label then carries the year of birth and the year of passing and, under the painting, one line of your own. The year of birth may stay empty.

Is it a pet head pasted onto a stranger's body?

No. We paint your pet itself as a bust portrait: its own head, coat and markings, with a white millstone ruff and black silk around it, as an Amsterdam merchant wore them. No crown, no wig, no pasted head.

What if my tile arrives damaged?

We pack every tile carefully, but if something does go wrong in transit: send us a photo of the damage and we will send you a new one free of charge. It is that simple.

What happens to my uploaded photo?

Your photo is only used to create and deliver your order. If you do not place an order, your photo is automatically removed from our servers.

Can the tile go in the bathroom or kitchen?

Yes! The image is baked into the ceramic and moisture-resistant, so kitchen splashes or a steamy bathroom are no problem. Want to mount the tile permanently? Use fine (unsanded) grout or silicone sealant so the surface does not get scratched.

How do I clean my tile?

With a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap if needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, they can scratch the surface.

Can the tile go in the dishwasher?

That depends on the quality you choose. The standard tile is not dishwasher safe: clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Choose the HD gloss tile when you order and a glaze layer goes over your design, which makes your tile dishwasher safe. The hexagon and rectangular tiles only come in standard quality, so they are not dishwasher safe.

Can I use the tile as a floor tile?

No, the tile is made as decoration: on the wall, on a tile holder or as an eye-catcher on a shelf. Foot traffic wears the image down, so it will not last as a floor tile.

I am very happy with how this beautifully crafted personalized tile came out. The picture I provided was from a wonderful, fond memory in the Adirondacks with the lady and I before we got married. Julian took my digital picture and turned it into a family heirloom. It turned out so nice, I think I'll do one that includes our son, and one for our past pets. Excellent quality.. my wife's screenshot from message is attached, as she is traveling to see family in Sweden. She LOVED it :)

I am incredibly happy with the tile! I bought it for my uncle and aunt’s 45th wedding anniversary. They thought it was really cool and original. Thanks!

Description

A real ceramic tile with your photo in classic Delft Blue, printed straight onto the tile: a medallion, an ornamental border and cobalt blue on cream-white glaze. Available in 11, 15 and 20 cm.
Made to order in the Netherlands, produced within 24-48 hours and shipped carefully packed.

Upload tips

A sharp, well-lit photo with the face clearly visible gives the best result. Avoid blurry or dark photos, backlight and very small crops.
Several people in the photo? Make sure everyone is clearly visible and not too small in the frame. JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF and TIFF are supported.

Important: read this before you order

The preview you approve is exactly what we print. Check the crop, the spelling of your text and the size before you check out.
Your photo is redrawn in Delft Blue: faces and details are interpreted in the style, not copied. Very dark subjects (a black dog, a dark coat) and low-contrast photos keep less detail.
Your tile has the same colours as the examples: cobalt blue on cream-white glaze. A screen can show the blue slightly differently from the real tile.
Production starts right after your order; nothing can be changed afterwards. Personalised tiles cannot be returned. If your tile arrives damaged, you get a new one for free.

About this product

Your dog or cat as a Golden Age portrait: warm window light, a dark background, a white millstone ruff and black silk. You see the painting within a minute, before you pay.

Why this portrait is different

- You see it first. The painting is on your screen within a minute. No proof after three days, no surprise after paying.

- It stays your animal. The same markings, the same eye colour, the same crooked ear tip. Not a generic breed portrait.

- The label is always right. We set the name in real type, so it reads exactly as you typed it.

The name and the year are set in old gold at the top of the tile, where no holder covers them.

In memory

Choose "In memoriam" and the label carries the years and one line of your own. Also as a memorial glass: the same name and years engraved on a tea glass, with your pet as a line drawing.

Material

Ceramic tile with a glossy glaze, in 11, 15 or 20 cm, with a holder or a hanger as an option. Made in the Netherlands, shipped within 1 to 3 working days.
